USAC: Sprint/TQ Midget Car Double Header at Irwindale Saturday

MCI WORLDCOM MIDGET CARS AT BAKERSFIELD SATURDAY USAC's three "Western" racing series resume action this weekend after a week's hiatus. The Sprint Cars and MCI WorldCom TQ Midget Cars compete in a "doubleheader" at the Irwindale (Calif.) Speedway, while the MCI WorldCom Midget Cars visit the Bakersfield (Calif.) Speedway, all on Saturday night.

A 30-lap Sprint and 20-lap TQ Midget Car feature are planned at the multi-purpose Irwindale facility. The Sprints race on Irwindale's 1/2-mile paved oval, while the TQs compete on the 1/3-mile oval. A 30-lapper also awaits the Midget Cars on Bakersfield's action-packed 1/3-mile dirt oval.

Bud Kaeding of Campbell, Calif. (Sprints), Marc DeBeaumont of Clayton, Calif. (Midget Cars) and Joshua Wise of Riverside, Calif. (TQ Midget Cars) are the respective series point leaders entering the three weekend events.
