IRL: Five Indy 500 drivers plan interesting morning commute May 13

INDIANAPOLIS - Five Pep Boys Indy Racing League drivers entered in the 83rd Indianapolis 500 plan to take the ultimate morning commute May 13 when they drive their 700-horsepower Indy Racing cars through the streets of downtown Indianapolis.

Participating in the "Drive into May" will be league standouts Tyce Carlson, Mark Dismore, Scott Goodyear, Stephan Gregoire and Scott Sharp. All five drivers live in the greater Indianapolis area.

Rush hour for the five drivers will start at approximately 10 a.m. Their 2.1-mile route will take them from the Indianapolis Zoo south through downtown on Washington/Maryland streets. Then they will head north on Illinois Street before turning on Market Street and entering Monument Circle. After driving around most of Monument Circle, the powerful commuters will turn north onto Meridian Street before turning west on Vermont Street. The drive will end in the valet parking area of the Indianapolis Athletic Club on Vermont Street.

The Indianapolis 500 takes place May 30 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Practice starts May 15. Pole Day is May 22, Bubble Day May 23 and Coors Carburetion Day May 27.
