In 1998, when Google started online, The Auto Channel had already proven itself over two plus years of digital publishing. In fact, we were told by Google when they came along and solicited our an Adsense partnership that we were going to be the first editorial automotive website to partner with Google...the first in the world...not Cars.Com Or Auto Trader Or CarMax Or Road and Track Or Motor trend Or Automotive News Or Auto Week Or Edmunds Or Or Or....It Was Pennzoil's Favorite, The Auto Channel.
In our almost quarter century together as "partners" The Auto Channel ad revenue derived from Google ad payments have gone from $35,000 per month to less than 3% of that now, can you imagine how devastating that is?
Despite The Auto Channel checking all of the "good Guy" boxes we are in a quandary...we have stopped paying contributors, we have moved to a $250 a month office, we are hanging on by a fingernail and its a mystery to us as to what we have to change to increase revenue.
