The Hague, December 13, 2017. It is almost certain that the Volvo factory in Ghent Belgium, will also build cars for the new brand Lynk & Co for the European market.

Just like Volvo, Lynk belongs to the Chinese Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co., Ltd

That statement from director Alain Visser of Lynk & Co has been confirmed by both Volvo and Lynk & Co.

."Volvo confirms that the possibility of building cars for L&C in Ghent is being investigated ", according to a spokesperson for Volvo Gent. Also Lynk itself confirmed the deployment of the Belgian factory.

Lynk & Co launched the '01', an SUV, in China this week, mentioning it ‘The fastest selling car in the world.

Fourteen days ago, the car went in pre-sale online, generating already 6,000 orders in 2.17 minutes. "Europe is the next stop", Lynk said. The first models that have to be sold now have a Volvo petrol engine. "When production starts for Europe, new models will have an electric motor, together with more technology and connectivity, " says Lynk in its 2.3-liter press release.

The first Lynk & Co model is based on the same CMA platform that is also used for the Volvo XC40 which currently rolls out of the Belgian plant. Ghent. Those Lynxs are currently only being built in China. However, Geely is considering making them also in Ghent. Geely even seems to be planning to produce cars for the brand in both Ghent and in the American Volvo plant to have put on hold. The reverse happened with Volvo that was first only being built in Europe but now also comes from Chinese factories.
