Undoubtedly the biggest and most important race weekend on the short-course calendar, Ruppel Motorsports looks to take the momentum to the final three rounds of the season at Elk River Motor Park (ERX) to move back up in the TORC PRO-2WD Championship standings. Back in the middle of August, Ruppel Motorsports was dealt a crucial blow in his quest for the PRO-2WD Championship. The loss of the truck's powerplant during the Saturday morning qualifying session prevented the team from competing during the weekend. The "Did Not Start" designation moved Ruppel from second in the points standings down to fifth place. Undaunted the team went to work with Adams Automotive looking to build a better stronger powerplant for the single round of racing scheduled at Crandon as well as the final rounds at ERX. A strong field of fifteen trucks started Saturday's somewhat wet and muddy TORC Round 11 PRO-2WD race. The record Crandon crowd saw the familiar #37 Maxxis Tire/Petit Development/Chetek Off-Road truck fighting for a podium finish throughout the nine lap race. The intense battle paid off as Eric Ruppel finished the day in third place and standing on the final step of the podium. "This was a relief after what happened at Red Bud," commented Eric Ruppel. "The morning rain made track conditions as tough as the competition, but we had a plan and Maxxis gave us a great set of tires while Adams built a great piece under the hood. Now we need to run our best at ERX and hope for a little luck do get back where we were in standings before Red Bud." The final weekend of the TORC Series presented by AMSOIL is this coming weekend, September 22-24 in Elk River, Minnesota.
