DECISIVE ANALYTICS Employee-Owner, Peter David, to Speak in US Army TRADOC Mad Scientist Group's Speaker Series

ARLINGTON, Va., Sept. 7, 2017 -- Next week, one of DECISIVE ANALYTICS Corporation's (DAC) employee-owners, Peter David, will be presenting as part of US Army Training and Doctrine Command's (TRADOC) Mad Scientist Speaker Series. In this series, "Science Fiction vs Science Funding – Comparing What We Imagine to What We Invent," Mr. David will be discussing the similarities and differences between the way science fiction authors imagine war in the coming decades and the way DoD research agencies are preparing for the future battlefield. He will be presenting in TRADOC's online discussion at 1 PM on Wednesday, September 13, 2017.

In his discussion, Mr. David will describe how he used statistical topic modeling algorithms to analyze and compare 104 stories contributed to TRADOC's Mad Scientist group's recent science fiction contest with content from over 25,000 DoD research and development solicitations. This approach summarizes the content from both areas and quantitatively examines how science fiction and science funding overlap and diverge.

Peter David has worked as a computer science researcher at DECISIVE ANALYTICS since 2006 and has led the development of DAC's semantic processing technology. He also enjoys thinking and writing about the effects of technology on societies, both real and imagined. In addition to working at DAC, Mr. David has authored "Unescaped," a short story exploring a medieval cybersecurity incident.

TRADOC's Mad Scientist initiative comprises a series of events to help the Army think about the evolution of the Operational Environment and the effects of all aspects of technology on the future Armed Conflict.
