I just came across the funniest automotive video ad that I've seen in a long time. I'd rank it alongside the fantastic in-car dashcam video produced earlier this year by the Dover Police Department.
This video features three men of a "comfortable age" doing a rap about their rides and how NAPA Auto Parts keeps them looking good and running fine. There's a sedan "family hauler" that looks like my 2002 Ford Taurus; a minivan that's described as the "King of the Cul de Sac;" and a pick-up truck that acts like a "free pizza magnet" (you'll have to watch all four videos to understand this reference).
The primary video, which is a two and a half minute promo, then leads to three other videos that complete the 200,000 Mile Club Tour.
The scripts are really well written, with great one-liners. The spots are terrifically produced, and the actors do a terrific job. I think the video is as good or better than any of the wonderful videos done by Andy Samberg and Justin Timberlake on Saturday Night Live (I'm thinking of "Dick In A Box" and the follow-up non-broadcast video "Mother Lover" - both are definitely must-see TV).
