Mooresville, Oct. 16, 2012: Roush Yates' drag racing engine program has found Winner's Circle over a dozen times in 2012 with wins in five different divisions.
Steve Matusek scored his first win of the season at the 2012 Throwdown at T-Town in Tulsa, OK. Chuck Samuel, Larry Larson, and the rest of the crew at Aeromotive helped Matusek lay down several laps in the 3.90 range to pick his way through the tough field in the Pro Mod division. The Aeromotive team runs one of Roush Yates' 500 CID twin turbo engines.
Matusek qualified fourth with a 4.00 and went on to run a 3.99, 3.97 and 3.93 in the finals. Sunday's win gives the team great momentum as they look forward to the final Pro Mod contest of the NHRA season in Las Vegas, NV.
TG Paschal clinched the 2012 5.00 Outlaw Doorslammer Championship with his win on October 4th at Piedmont Dragway in Burlington, NC. The car, deemed "Lil Red", is owned by Harold and David Sexton and runs a Roush Yates 427 CID small block Ford for power."We just have a better combination than the rest of the guys," said Harold Sexton. "Lil Red's 60 foot times only varied 0.001 of a second in the last five runs, and you just can't beat our Roush Yates horsepower"!
The championship-clinching win marked the 10th time the Sexton Brothers have went to the Winner's Circle since switching to Roush Yates power at the beginning of the 2011 season.
Ronnie Davis has become one of the only drivers in ADRL history to post multiple wins in their Top Sportsman division. Davis beat Marco Abruzzi in the final on September 29th at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, OH in Top Sportsman to capture his second win of the season.
"I feel very fortunate, very blessed, to win this race," said Davis. "We worked hard and we deserve this win because we don't quit. It's a real honor to race someone like Marco in the final; he's the cream of the crop out here."
