Beverly Hills, Apr. 21, 2012: The Greystone Mansion Concours d’Elegance on May 6 will showcase more than 150 classic and vintage automobiles and motorcycles, and a 1970 Husqvarna 400 Cross will be among the highlights.

Formerly owned by Steve McQueen and now on display at the San Diego Auto Museum, the motorcycle was gently restored by its new owner, Rob Phillips.

During restoration, Phillips’s repair team found an “uncirculated” 1960 Lincoln head penny in a small round plastic case tucked away in the cavity between the engine and the frame. Whether the coin was placed for luck or because it is dated the same year that McQueen’s son, Chad, was born, is uncertain. But its placement and the personal connection to McQueen adds to the character of the motorcycle. Chad McQueen is expected to attend the concours in support of the 1970 Husqvarna that belonged to his father.

Other featured motorcycles include a 2000 Harley-Davidson Military, a 1972 Harley-Davidson Baja 100, a 1959 Honda CL 175, a 1959 BMW R69, a 2006 Boss Fly, a 1974 Harley-Davidson SX 125, a 1978 Harley-Davidson MX 250, a 1971 Husqvarna 400 Cross, a 1956 BSA Catalina Scrambler, and a 1958 MV Augusta Gran Sport.

The Greystone Concours d’Elegance takes place on May 6 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Greystone Estate in Beverly Hills, Calif. Tickets cost $108 per person in advance, $133 at the door. Sales are limited to 3,000 tickets, and each includes unlimited food and drink, a program book and poster, access to the estate grounds and mansion, and a two-for-one admission to the Petersen Automotive Museum.

Free parking is available at the Beverly Hills Parking Structure, located at 450 N. Crescent Drive. Guests will be picked up at the parking structure and will be transported to and from Greystone Mansion via shuttle.
