LAGUNA BEACH, October 26, 2011: With NASCAR running its final restrictor plate race this past weekend in Talladega before its move to fuel-injected engines at Daytona next February, the FAST EFI University training course on electronic fuel injection in racing applications will come at an ideal time for a changing motorsports world when it takes place during Race Industry Week, Nov. 30, in conjunction with the 24th annual PRI Trade Show at the Orange County Convention Center. EFI University, based in Temecula, California, is the first school of its kind, designed specifically to teach the principles and skills required to successfully navigate your way through the fast paced world of high performance electronic fuel injection.
“The motorsports industry will be looking to try to uncover as much as information – and gain every advantage – in terms of electronic fuel injection as they can this off-season,” said Steve Lewis, PRI Trade Show producer. “To be able to combine the EFI University course with the latest technologies available on the PRI Trade Show floor is just invaluable and the perfect match.” The course begins with a general overview of the basic functions and theory involved in controlling an engine using electronic fuel injection. In depth discussions about each sensor and actuator used, and their functions are held throughout the session with emphasis on interaction between students and instructors to ensure that everyone understands each concept before progressing to the next.
Once the entire EFI system and its components have been discussed, the class moves into discussions on the basic concepts of how the engine operates and the methods used to actually tune the calibration. Specific attention is paid to understanding how the process of computing the correct engine control is accomplished and the common methods of progression through the tuning process from beginning to end.
“The ability to gather the latest information on new technologies, while in the same exhibition hall that supplies the latest performance technologies and invention is really what makes Race Industry Week a must for everyone in the industry,” relays Lewis. The EFI training course is one of no less than six major events during Race Industry Week that will take place in conjunction with this year’s PRI Trade Show, which will run Dec. 1-3 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando. The 24th Annual PRI Trade Show features the latest product lines of 1,100 manufacturers of racing and high-performance automotive components, as well as precision machining equipment. It will be attended by approximately 40,000 racing business people from all over the United States, and from 65 countries. For more information, go to www.performanceracing.com/tradeshow.
