LAS VEGAS, Oct. 17, 2011: Anders Krohn started sixth and finished seventh in Belardi Auto Racing’s Liberty Engineering Racing Special No. 9 in the Firestone Indy Lights season finale Sunday morning at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

He set the second-fastest lap of the race in the process with a time of 28.4002 seconds for the 1.544-mile oval for an average speed of 195.717 miles per hour. His fastest lap came on lap 65 of the 67-lap race, which was won by Victor Carbone over Esteban Guerrieri and Jorge Goncalvez.

Krohn, a native of Stavanger, Norway who lives in Houston, advanced from eighth to seventh in the series’ final point standings with his ninth top-10 finish in the 14-race series.

In addition to Liberty Engineering, Krohn’s red No. 9 is sponsored by Logi Trans Offshore Express, Trallfa, PM International Suppliers, Allied Building Products, ZAT Graphics, Eagles Canyon Raceway, OMP and Bell Helmets.

There was a great deal of jockeying for position throughout the race, and Krohn ran anywhere between fifth and ninth throughout the 67-lap event.

Krohn was in seventh place, just 0.1170 of a second behind Brandon Wagner, at the checkered.

“I have to thank the Belardi Auto Racing guys and my sponsors, but right now it's impossible to think about results or championships with Dan Wheldon getting killed [in the IZOD IndyCar race which followed the Firestone Indy Lights race],” Krohn said. “Dan was an incredible person and a fantastic talent, and will no doubt go down in history as one of the all-time greats in racing. We actually raced against each other during a karting event this January, and just a few weeks ago he drove my No. 9 Belardi Auto Racing car. He's been a great source of inspiration for me personally, and I cannot imagine what it's going to be like without him walking around smiling in the paddock. He will be deeply missed by the entire IndyCar family and my thoughts and condolences go out to his wife Susie, their two kids and extended family.

“We had a pretty tough race, but I'm happy just to finish,” Krohn added. “A frustrating season has come to an end, but I am eternally grateful for the faith Brian Belardi and everybody at Belardi Auto Racing have put in me over the course of the year. The off-season won't be long, and I just hope to be able to come back to Firestone Indy Lights to prove that our potential can be put into results.”
