Noblesville, Oct. 12, 2011: Conor Daly will tackle a road rally for the first time on Oct. 26, 2011, when he and co driver, Paul Sparta, will compete in the AutoWeek America Adventure road rally (http://www.theamericaadventure.com/) taking place over seven days between Seattle and Las Vegas. The teams will travel through some of the most diverse countryside in America with each evening ending in a new city. The teams will have no idea where they'll end up for the night and will have to "get a clue" in order to navigate the route correctly.
Daly and Sparta will drive one of only 90 Audi R8 GT carbon-fibre super cars that will be imported to America. Audi of America is supporting their entry and will produce a short documentary about the unique activities of Audi owners, to be featured on an Audi website series.
Along the way, Daly and Sparta will raise money for Communities in Schools (CIS) and at the conclusion of the AWAA event they will be conducting a special Race to Win event in conjunction with Las Vegas Motor Speedway and CIS of Nevada where they expect 40-60 at risk kids to attend.
“I was inspired by Manoj Saxena who took a much longer drive coast-to-coast, last May, to draw attention to the high dropout rate in this country, and the marvelous organization, Communities in Schools (CIS), that has put into place highly effective programs to keep at risk kids in school (http://www.communitiesinschools.org/), commented Paul. “When Conor suggested that we do this, it was the ideal way for us to enjoy one of the most exciting super cars in America while helping at risk kids in school.”
“This will fulfill many objectives for me,” said Daly. “I get to travel the country, get to go the the SEMA show in Las Vegas for the first time, get to support Communities in Schools all while driving the awesome Audi R8 GT super car.”
The event will be featured on a one hour documentary on the Discovery Channel. The Team CIS entry can be followed on Twitter and Facebook – enjoy the ride no matter where you are.
