Pro Karting - Giebler Racing Enters Nine For SKUSA Pro Tour SummerNationals

GRAND JUNCTION, June 14, 2011: Phil Giebler Racing has entered nine drivers in six classes in the Superkarts! USA Pro Tour’s Mothers Polish SummerNationals being run Friday through Sunday (July 15-17) at Grand Junction Motor Speedway.

PGR will have Emily Maddison, Andrew Wiener, Jess Peterson and Rory Mackey in TaG Senior, Mason Daughters in TaG Junior, Joe Ruch in S2 Stock Honda Shifter by SRS, Noah Grey in TaG Cadet, Vatchie Tatikian in S4 Stock Honda Shifter by DDR and Steve Wiener in TaG Master.

Giebler, who had a main event victory and a third and was the top point scorer in last year’s SummerNationals in Shawano, Wis., will focus entirely on working with the team.

“I will be coaching all the drivers and playing role of team manager as well,” Giebler said. “I think we will be in strong contention in all the categories. These two rounds will be just as competitive as opening two rounds first two rounds in Tucson, but with different conditions. It will be hot and we will be racing at a much higher altitude, which might throw some drivers off their game. We’re looking forward to a great weekend.”

Grey, of Dana Point, Calif., was PGR’s top overall performer in the Pro Tour’s SpringNationals in April, ninth in both main events. Daughters, of Polo, Mo., was ninth and 10th, Maddison, of Calgary, Canada, was 10th and 14th, Peterson, of Sparks, Nev., was 11h and 16th and Andrew Wiener, of Chula Vista, Calif., was 13th and 19th in the same classes they’re entered at Grand Junction.

“Mason is raising his game every event and we'll continue to push him in the right direction,” Giebler said. “Jess has been on a hot streak winning races and podiums everywhere he goes. Emily has been fast in the previous events, but just hasn't had the luck. I have a feeling that she is going to have a very good weekend. She is due.

“Noah is a very competitive driver and Andrew has been steadily improving. We expect all of them to have better results than at Tucson.”

Ruch, of Frankfort, Ind., has won several events since joining PGR in May.

“Joe Ruch will have plenty of competition but has a lot of confidence coming from the Midwest success that he has had lately,” Giebler said. “I think we will be a strong combination and I am sure that we'll be in contention for podiums or the victory at the end of the weekend.”

Vatikian, a novice from North Hollywood, Calif., and Steve Wiener, of Chula Vista, Calif., failed to finish both main events at Tucson.

“Vatche has improved every time he’s been behind the wheel,” Giebler said. “This will be his toughest race of the season and a top-10 will be the goal. Steve has raced well this year and we expect him to be competitive at Grand Junction.”

Mackey, of Basalt, Colo., will be driving for PGR for the first time.

“Rory is a talented driver with experience at Grand Junction,” Giebler said. “We’re proud to have him join our team.”
