Kinetic Motorsports' BMW Hoping Third Time Is The Charm At Barber

Buford, April 4, 2011: Kinetic Motorsports is expecting big things for the #33 BMW M3 E92 at Barber Motorsports Park the weekend of April 7-9, and being so close to home, the team is looking for a good turnout of Kinetic fans. The Barber 200 will feature drivers Jade Buford and Bryan Sellers in the #33 Kinetic Motorsports BMW, sponsored by Sail Air Travel, Inc. and Vion Hitachi Data Systems, in the GRAND-AM Continental Tire Challenge Series in the Grand Sport (GS) class. The team is hoping that the third race of the season will bring a better result than the previous two, and is excited to see some familiar faces at the track.

“We had a few things to get sorted out during our test at Barber, but I think the extra time with the car really helped us get every kink worked out and we were able to fine tune the car so that we would be fully ready for the race,” said Kinetic Motorsports team owner Russell Smith. “Bryan and Jade have been doing a tremendous job, and I think the BMW will be good at that circuit. Just as long as we don’t catch any more bad breaks, I think we will have great results at Barber.”

“Barber is also fairly close to home for us,’ continued Smith, who lives near Kinetic’s shop in Buford, Georgia. “I’m really looking forward to seeing some familiar faces, and excited to see all the friends and family of the guys who work with us everyday.”

“We were fortunate enough to be able to do a pre-event test at Barber and hopefully found some things that will give us a good car at the race,” said Bryan Sellers, driver of the #33 Kinetic BMW. “I think we have the team and the racecar that can win, and obviously, that’s our goal. It’s hard to say how we’ll stack up compared to some of the other cars at Barber, but in the past, it’s been a good BMW track, so I’m excited to see how the BMW performs there.”

“With such a short race season, you start to run out of races pretty quickly, so it starts to become sort of a rush to get a win in before it’s too late in the year,” continued Sellers of Auburn, Georgia. “I hope that the third time is the charm, because there aren’t a lot of races left. We all need to be on our A-game and put our best foot forward.”

“The test at Barber went alright,” said Jade Buford, Sellers’ co-driver. “We had some issues in the morning that we were working through, just handling and grip issues. The track wasn’t really rubbing in so we were just trying to figure out what was the track’s fault and if there was a problem with our overall grip level. Everything else went pretty smoothly and the car actually looks pretty good for the race so hopefully everything will fall into place for us at Barber. There were a few rule changes that didn’t really benefit us, but our driver ability, team talent, and pit stops will be good enough to make up for that.”

“I believe the circuit at Barber is good for our car,” added Buford, who lives in Brentwood, Tennesee. “I don’t really know what would be the best car for that track this year. I’d say the only thing that hurts us is our weight and tire degradation and if we can work with that then we have the best car in the field.”
