FONTANA, March 15, 2011: Phil Giebler Racing’s Paul Grey won in PRD Grand Masters and teammates Gianfranco Casadei and Keith Dees finished second and third in PRD Spec Senior in the Los Angeles Kart Club event Sunday on the .75-mile CalSpeed Kart Track at Auto Club Speedway.
“We had a really good day,” Giebler said. “Paul (Grey) is making good improvement and giving the young guys a run for the money. They ran the PRD Masters and Spec Senior together and Paul was fifth overall. Keith (Dees) ran very strong and probably should have won, but he had an engine misfire about halfway through the race. Gianfranco (Casadei) passed him right at the finish for second when the engine gave up.”
Dees, of La Quinta, Calif., qualified second fastest and won the heat race. Casadei, a Brazilian living in Los Angeles, qualified in sixth position and was fifth in the heat. Grey, of Mission Viejo, Calif., swept the weekend in Grand Masters, taking pole and winning the heat. They were driving FA Karts with 125cc water-cooled PRD engines on Bridgestone tires.
PGR, based in Orange, Calif., will have drivers competing on the East and West Coasts this weekend (March 19-20).
Tate Holleran, of Denver, and Mason Daughters, of Polo, Mo., will be competing in the Florida Winter Tour at the Ocala (Fla.) Gran Prix kart track. Holleran will be in TaG Cadet and Daughters in TaG Leopard Junior. Phil Giebler, of Huntington Beach, Calif., will be running the team in Florida.
Emily Maddison, of Alberta, Canada, will be racing in Rotax Senior at the Gatorz Challenge of the Americas event at Infineon Racway’s kart track in Sonoma, Calif. Everett Giebler, Phil’s father and a karting veteran, will oversee Maddison’s effort.
