Free contest enters year two after thousands played in 2010

BROOKLYN, Feb. 16, 2011: Due to its overwhelming popularity in 2010, Michigan International Speedway and its president, Roger Curtis, are bringing back Roger’s Fantasy Pick ‘Em Contest for another season.

Beginning now, MIS is hosting the free weekly NASCAR pick ‘em contest at MISpeedway.

Fans will have the chance to make a weekly selection on who they think will win that weekend’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race, beginning with this weekend’s Daytona 500. Curtis will also make his selection on the website and post various podcasts during the season. A new twist in 2011 will feature a guest pick from MIS staff members and friends of the speedway.

“I enjoy participating in fantasy racing and look forward to going up against the fans to see how well they can pick NASCAR race winners each week. I only was able to select two correct winners last year, but hopefully I’ll do a bit better in 2011,” Curtis said. “This is another year for an exciting contest that we are offering to get the fans involved. I love to interact with the fans on all levels and this will be a lot of fun to see how everyone does. I can’t wait to get started with year two of this contest.”

All fans that correctly pick the winning driver that week will be posted on MISpeedway.com/rogerpickem. Each week a fan will be selected from the group that correctly picked the winner and sent a prize from MIS.

Additionally all fans that pick the winner each week during the season will be automatically entered into a drawing at the end of the year to win the grand prize package of four (4) NASCAR Sprint Cup Series tickets (either June or August), four (4) Saturday tickets, four (4) pre-race pit passes, four (4) cold garage passes and access to Gatorade Victory Lane following the Sunday Sprint Cup Series race for the 2012 season at MIS.

“We will be giving away a prize each week during the entire 36-week NASCAR Sprint Cup Series schedule,” Curtis said. “All you have to do is pick the winner correctly and you might have a chance to win the prize for that week and also be entered for the grand prize at the end of the season.”

All picks for the contest must be entered one hour prior to the start of each race. The contest is open to residents of the United States and Canada. Fans may also make their selection each week by mailing a 3x5 card with their pick and race name to Michigan International Speedway, 12626 U.S. 12, Brooklyn, MI 49230.

In 2010, thousands of MIS fans played the contest with over 1,000 correctly selecting the winning driver over the 36-week season. Karen Boler of Altus, Okla. was randomly selected as the grand prize winner of two Victory Lane Club passes for the upcoming 2011 June race weekend at MIS. Boler will travel from Oklahoma to MIS for the Father’s Day weekend festivities.

“This is very exciting,” Boler said. “I played the contest almost every week and am surprised that I was picked. My family and I are definitely making plans to come to Michigan in June and being at the race for sure. This is a tremendous opportunity for us.”

Nestled in the lush Irish Hills of Southeastern Michigan, Michigan International Speedway is the Great Escape, a venerable NASCAR national park where fans can get away and enjoy the very best in racing and camaraderie. It’s the love of racing and the thrill of a great time for race fans and drivers alike.
