SPEED EuroSeries Becomes Le Mans Series Feeder Formula

London, Dec. 13, 2010: The new EuroSeries will showcase the economic CN sportscars at every one of the super-popular Le Mans Series events in 2011. A mix of 90-minute and one-hour, two-driver races will feature on all Le Mans Series programmes, starting at the Paul Ricard Circuit in April. A sixth (additional) enduro is planned for June.

The EuroSeries, which is recognised by Honda Motor Europe, will feature Honda-powered CN chassis from the likes of Ligier, Norma, WFR, Wolf, Juno, Jade, Gloria, Promec, Lucchini, Osella and Radical. Control tyres and fuel will limit costs and a mandatory, sealed ECU ensures a level playing field. Global TV coverage is booked.

"The SPEED EuroSeries is the only growth formula in motorsport," says Oliver McCrudden of SPEED.

"Our EuroSeries formula provides a proving ground for gentlemen drivers and the best opportunity for young 'hotshots' to get status drives in sports car racing. SPEED is a real business development possibility for teams capable of running cars and provides lots of tracktime at a realistic budget. The Le Mans Series is the biggest popular show in Europe. Look at the OEMs who participate: Audi, Peugeot, BMW, Aston Martin and some 30-plus quality teams.

"Our Honda-powered cars are sensibly priced, totally reliable and are real racing chassis. Some Le Mans Series teams are looking to use the SPEED series for their young driver training programmes. We offer driver, team and manufacturer points awards. We aim to fast-track the SPEED EuroSeries to European championship status for 2012."

Following the Paul Ricard event, the SPEED EuroSeries races at Spa in May, Imola in July, Silverstone in September and Estoril later the same month. A further event is proposed for June, following the Le Mans 24-hour spectacle. With just 30 grid slots to be filled, entry registrations have already been received, at least two new cars have been delivered and further orders have been placed.
