Las Vegas, November 20, 2010: Bringing more than 44 years of racing and track management experience to the board, Mitch Wright, the General Manager of the brand new NOLA Motorsports Park has graciously accepted the invitation to become the association’s new Director of Tracks. As the former Director of Racing at the Miller Motorsports Park in Utah and now his management role with this new complex outside of New Orleans, Mitch has extensive knowledge in successful track management and can be of tremendous support to KIC track members through research and education. Part of Mitch’s past also includes positions such as Vice President of SCCA Pro Racing, SCCA Pro Racing Series Manager and SCCA Pro Racing Technical Manager. He has been a karting competitor since 1966 and lays claim to five regional championships through 1976.

These new Director positions on the KIC Board reflect part of the extreme makeover of the association and its new goal of reaching a larger base of the performance karting community and providing education, advocacy support, industry research and resources to raise the overall business-to-business standards. As part of this new board expansion the KIC is now looking to create pathways to the executive board through these two-year postings. Those who actively support the different Directors roles will be eligible to run for the executive positions after having been a director for a minimum of one year. According to Ray Verhelst, Executive Director “With term limits on the executive board we want to create opportunities for those who have put the effort behind the growth of the association to be able to bring their ideas to the forefront and these new Directors will be able to present their plans and objectives to the board and voting members as their campaigns for the positions. With the new two-year term limits we hope this ensures that individuals do not feel like they have been forced into perpetual servitude and that the outside community can now see that we will continue to bring new ideas and energy to the association management for years to come.”

In the next few weeks, KIC will be announcing additional appointments covering the performance indoor market as well as the dirt racing component.
