Auto Club Pomona Raceway (Nov. 11-14)

Jeg Coughlin Jr. enters this weekend’s season-ending Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals as the seventh-ranked driver in the Pro Stock class. Coughlin can finish as high as fifth with a strong showing this weekend. He is guaranteed to finish in the top 10 for the twelfth time in his career.

Jeg Jr has won six Pro Stock titles at Auto Club Pomona Raceway including both the season-opening Winternationals and season ending Auto Club Finals in 1999. He also won here in 2000, 2001, 2005, and 2007. Of those wins, three (1999, 2005, and 2007) have come at the Auto Club Finals. Jeg Jr’s final round opponents at those events are Warren Johnson (1999), Tom Martino (2005), and Justin Humphreys (2007).

In addition to his six victories, Jeg Jr has also earned four runner-up finishes at this track. He reached the final at both events in 1998, and also recorded runner-up finishes at the 2000 Finals and the 2008 Winternationals.

Jeg Jr has qualified in the top half of the Pro Stock field 17 times in Pomona including a best of No. 1 in 2000. During his career, Jeg Jr has qualified in the top spot 17 times.

After the first 22 races of the 2010 season, Jeg Jr has claimed four wins and appeared in six final rounds in NHRA national event competition. He earned victories in Houston, Atlanta, Sonoma, and Brainerd and also reached the final round in St. Louis and Denver.

In 26 appearances at Auto Club Pomona Raceway (including the Auto Club Finals, the Winternationals, and the special 50th Anniversary event held in the summer of 2001), Jeg Jr has a round win record of 45-19 in Pro Stock competition. In 13 appearances at the Auto Club Finals, Jeg as a round win record of 23-10 in Pro Stock.

With 52 career Pro Stock wins, Jeg Jr ranks fourth all-time among Pro Stock drivers. Only Warren Johnson (97), Bob Glidden (85) and Greg Anderson (65) have more titles.

Jeg Coughlin Jr is a four-time NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series Pro Stock champion. He earned season titles in 2000, 2002, 2007 and 2008. As a sportsman driver, Jeg also claimed the NHRA Super Gas championship in 1992.

In 282 career Pro Stock races, Jeg Jr has reached the final round 83 times, recording 52 wins. Including his 14 sportsman victories, Jeg has won a total of 66 times, good for ninth place on NHRA’s all time wins list. During his career, Jeg Jr has appeared in102 final rounds, 83 as a professional and 19 as a sportsman racer.

During his Pro Stock career, Jeg Jr has recorded 470 round wins while incurring just 217 losses. He has failed to advance past the opening round just 68 times.

Jeg Jr will once again be doing double duty in Pomona as he will also be racing his JEGS.com dragster in the Super Comp class. Should he win the race, Jeg Jr will become the first driver to win an NHRA national event title in six different classes. He already has wins in Pro Stock, Comp, Super Stock, Super Gas, and Top Dragster.

Jeg Jr has raced in Super Comp at three other events this year, most recently at the Toyo Tires Nationals in Reading where he posted a round four finish.
