Rindt and 72 celebrated at Racing Lotus

London, Nov. 2, 2010: Jochen Rindt and the Type 72 Formula 1 car are two Lotus icons being featured in the Racing Lotus film festival, taking place in Oxfordshire over the weekend of 13/14 November.

The festival, which is taking place at Eynsham Hall near Witney, celebrates the history of the marque in motor racing through archive film of Lotus racing cars and drivers in action and by gathering personalities associated with Team Lotus for a special guest speaker panel session.

Guests at Racing Lotus will include former racing manager (and later boss of Cosworth) Dick Scammell, ex-works Grand Prix driver John Miles and renowned chief mechanic, Bob Dance.

Each year, the event celebrates themes and special anniversaries. With the overall theme being Lotus, the anniversaries being celebrated include 40 years since Jochen Rindt won the Formula 1 drivers' World Championship, 40 years of the iconic Lotus 72 and 50 years since the first victory for the Lotus 18, the racing car which really put the Lotus name on the map.

Highlight of the weekend is a gala dinner on the Saturday evening, giving diners the opportunity to mingle, chat and dine with the guest speakers.

Finally, for fans of current Grand Prix racing concerned about missing any action from the season finale at Abu Dhabi, action from qualifying and the race will be shown live on the festival's 10ft x 7ft screen during the weekend.
