Ken Schrader Truck Series Advance: Talladega Superspeedway

SUPERSPEEDWAY SUCCESS: Ken Schrader will make his final start of 2010 for Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI) this weekend at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway. Although this will be his first Truck Series start at the 2.66-mile superspeedway, Schrader is no stranger to success at Talladega. He visited victory lane for the first time in his NASCAR career in the fall of 1988 in the Sprint Cup Series, and earned two consecutive Cup Series poles at the superspeedway in the fall of 1998 and spring of 1999. Schrader also has one Nationwide Series win (1994) and one pole (1999) at Talladega.

RECENT WINNER: Schrader comes to Talladega fresh off a major short-track win. On Saturday, October 9th Schrader won the 25-lap A Main Modified feature at the UMP National Championships at Eldora (Ohio) Speedway. The win has been called the "closest and most dramatic win in Eldora history," and required video review before Schrader could be declared victorious. The win was Schrader's 14th short-track win of 2010.

THE PERFECT PAIR: Moore's Marinade will partner up with Schrader and the No. 2 team for the second time this season at Talladega Superspeedway, but Schrader will not be the only one representing the Birmingham, Alabama-based company in competition this weekend. Racing and barbeque will pair up on the Talladega grounds for the DEGAQUE Alabama Barbeque Championship on Saturday, October 30th. The Moore's Marinade-sponsored cooking team, Sweat's Barbecue, will put their sauce, ribs, pork, brisket and other specialties to the test as they compete for their share of $50,000 in overall prize money. Race fans are welcome to attend and sample delicious barbeque prepared by the various cooking teams.

DID YOU KNOW: In July of this year, Elliott Sadler became the 21st driver to win in all of NASCAR's top-three series when he took the checkered flag in the inaugural race at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway, but Schrader was the first driver in NASCAR history to achieve this feat when he visited victory lane in the Truck Series at Saugus (Calif.) Speedway in 1995 (Schrader's first Cup and Nationwide wins came at Talladega Superspeedway in 1988 and Dover (Del.) International Speedway in 1989, respectively). Additionally, five other past and present KHI drivers have completed the trifecta: KHI co-owner Kevin Harvick (completed in November of 2002), Tony Stewart (completed in February of 2005), Bobby Labonte (completed in April of 2005), Clint Bowyer (completed in September of 2007) and Ryan Newman (completed in October of 2008).

GOING HOME: Two KHI employees call the state of Alabama home. Randy Armstrong, interior specialist for the No. 2 truck hails from Mobile, while Tyler Patterson, manager of Happy's e-Shop [KHI retail store and website], is originally from Huntsville. Armstrong, 24, began his racing career wrenching at Mobile (Ala.) International Speedway, while Patterson, 27, got his start as a public relations intern at Talladega Superspeedway.

What are your thoughts going into this weekend's race at Talladega Superspeedway?

"It's always fun to go to Talladega when you've got really good equipment, and I know that Kevin [Harvick] will have really good stuff down there. I remember that in Daytona earlier this season everybody kept trying to bump draft everybody from the first lap and kept crashing. Hopefully everybody will remember what happened there. We can all crash at the end when it's time to, we don't need to be doing that stuff right off the bat."

PREVIOUS RACE RECAP: After demonstrating his truck's strength in practice and qualifying and leading 35 laps, Kevin Harvick experienced brake issues while leading early in the race, then made contact with multiple trucks, which ruined his chances of winning his fourth Truck Series race of the season at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway.

CHASSIS HISTORY: The No. 2 team will utilize chassis No. 041 this weekend at Talladega Superspeedway. Chassis No. 041 ran most recently in the 2010 season opener at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway where Elliott Sadler started second but finished a disappointing 20th following a multi-truck accident early in the race.
