Team TELMEX Wins at Miller, Claims Fourth GRAND-AM Championship

TOOLE, September, 12, 2010: TELMEX Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates drivers Scott Pruett and Memo Rojas won the Utah 250 at Miller Motorsports Park in the season finale of the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Cask No.16 to score their ninth victory of the season. The win not only set the GRAND-AM single season record for victories, but also clinched the fourth Daytona Prototype championship for the team, who finished 40 markers ahead of the No.10 car (372 to 332).

The victory also clinched the manufacturer championships for the team’s Dinan-prepared BMW powerplant (386 to 371 over Ford), and chassis supplier Riley Technologies (392 to 351 over Dallara).

The win in Utah gives Chip Ganassi Racing Teams Inc. a team-record 17th win in 2010 across all three of the series in which the team competes (GRAND-AM, NASCAR Sprint Cup and IZOD IndyCar Series).

Rojas started from the pole, led the first lap and then settled the No. 01 TELMEX Dinan-Prepared BMW Riley into second position for the first half of the race. Pruett took over driving duties on lap 26, and quickly cut into the 20-second advantage that Max Angelelli had on the field.

After closing the margin to six seconds, a lap 46 caution proved to be the turning point of the race. As Pruett brought the No.01 down pit-road, the TELMEX team got him out of the pits ahead of the field. The team went on to lead a race-high 42 laps on the way to claiming the victory.
