CampingWorld.com 200 at Gateway Postponed Until Saturday Due to Offsite Power Issue

MADISON, July 17, 2010: Prior to the start of the CampingWorld.com 200 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Gateway International Raceway Friday, an incident at a transformer station in East St. Louis, Ill., caused a power outage affecting the track’s lights. The issue forced a nearly two-hour delay while the problem was being worked on and at approximately 10 p.m. local time, the decision was made to postpone the race until Saturday at 12:30 p.m.

“We learned that the repairs necessary to restore power to Gateway would take several hours,” said Gateway International Raceway Vice President and General Manager Terry Harmeson. “To ensure that we could have a safe race, the decision was made to postpone the event.”

The schedule for the NASCAR Nationwide Series tomorrow morning will run as originally planned with spectator gates opening at 8:30 and NNS practices running at 9-10:15 a.m. and 10:45 a.m.-Noon. Qualifying for the Missouri-Illinois Dodge Dealers 250 is tentatively scheduled for 3:35 with the race expected to start at 7.

Fans will be treated to a true double feature Saturday as ticketholders for the CampingWorld.com 200 will also be allowed to use that ticket for tomorrow’s Missouri-Illinois Dodge Dealers 250 and likewise, those who bought a ticket to the NASCAR Nationwide Series race can be in the stands for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race.

Fans are reminded, however, that the grandstand seat is reserved for the person who bought the ticket to that seat for that particular race. For example, if some bought a ticket for Section 41, Row 31, Seat 6 for the CampingWorld.com 200, they are entitled to that seat, even if someone bought a ticket for that same seat for the Missouri-Illinois Dodge Dealers 250. Once the Truck Series race is over, the seat is reserved for the NNS ticketholder.

CampingWorld.com 200 ticketholders are reminded to bring their ticket stubs and parking passes for tomorrow’s on-track activities. Tickets for Saturday’s NASCAR double feature are still available at several points of entry at the track.
