Wood Brothers Las Vegas Recap

Wood Brothers Racing enjoyed a brisk pre-race morning with its U.S. Air Force and Little Debbie guests despite the no. 21 not making the race. In attendance was Four Star General Victor E. Renuart, Commander, North American Aerospace Defense Command and U.S. Northern Command, Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado. General Renuart is an accomplished command pilot who has over 3,800 hours of flying time and 60 combat missions.

Wood Brothers Racing co–owners Eddie and Len Wood were on hand to escort the General and other key members of the Air Force throughout the garage and pit areas, including an introduction during the drivers’ meeting. After a brief tour of the Fox Network booth and a view of Fox COT cut-away car, the group made their way back to the hospitality coach to have lunch. The General explained his enthusiasm for the Wood Brothers Racing NASCAR program and how it increasingly benefits their recruitment efforts across the country.

Prior to leaving the hospitality coach for the start of the race, General Renuart presented the team with his special edition coin that represented a “dog tag” to remind us all that there are still young men and woman fighting oversees for this country. He then promised the team that this is only the beginning of his visits to a NASCAR event and plans to participate in many more. Eddie Wood said, “I hope I get the opportunity to spend more time with General Renuart – he is an incredible person. As for this weekend, it’s unfortunate that we didn’t have a race car on the track but it’s all part of this business. We will pick ourselves up by our boot straps, get back at it and get this car running right.”

The Wood Brothers Racing crew spent Saturday and Sunday working hard to get the racecar prepared for the NASCAR test in Phoenix on Monday and Tuesday. The team is regrouping and looking forward to racing the #21 Little Debbie Nutty Bars Ford Fusion with Bill Elliott back in the driver’s seat at Atlanta Motor Speedway for the Kobalt Tools 500 on Sunday, March 9, 2008.
