IMPORTANT FIRST, SECOND AND THIRD FOR NATIONWIDE SERIES TEAM JD MOTORSPORTS
“Female Crew Chief, Combat Hero Honoree and More Racing at Las Vegas Motor Speedway”
NASCAR Nationwide series team JD Motorsports has captured media’s attention over the past few weeks. NASCAR historians recently confirmed that Cindey Woosley is the first female crew chief in the history of the national NASCAR series which includes the Craftsman Truck, Sprint Cup and Nationwide.
“We have been overwhelmed with requests by TV, radio and Internet media eager to speak with Cindey. While we would like to accommodate these requests, it’s crucial that she is not distracted from her primary responsibilities in the pit as we must insure the safety of our driver Kertus Davis” remarked team owner Lori Morgan.
Davis comments, “The weather was wet, cold and miserable last weekend at Auto Club Speedway and not the sunny California we were looking forward to”. This affected the teams plan to honor a combat hero at each race during the 2008 season which has become an important part of the JD Motorsports program. Mr. Jeremy White will be the second honoree. He will be honored in Las Vegas this weekend, deemed honorary team member for the day and his name will be placed on the “C” panel of the #01 car driven by Davis. # # More # # Last week, the #01 car made it as high as 12th position before an early pit stop. Davis was running 21st when the transmission failed with 21 laps to go. Davis reflects on Monday’s race at California’s Auto Club Speedway, “The track was in great shape thanks to the track crew, NASCAR and officials who did an excellent job”. The JD Motorsports team has a small crew and does not yet have major sponsorship which allows for hiring additional people. They must make up a pit crew wherever they go.
“In California, the JD Motorsports employees and a West Coast team made a crew of four people who did an excellent job. They kept us on the lead lap all day until parts failure sidelined us from the event” notes owner Morgan. The team is looking forward to carrying positive momentum from California to the Las Vegas race. “Hopefully, without a parts performance failure, we will have a strong finish”, adds Davis.
