Fans of NHRA Drag Racing who have a need for speed during this off-season can quench their thirst for the world’s fastest motorsport by tuning into ESPN Classic each weekday at 11 a.m. The popular sports channel continues to offer daily airings of past NHRA POWERade Series events.
More than 50 shows are currently planned to air Mon.-Fri. at 11 a.m. (ET) through the end of February.
NHRA Drag Racing on ESPN Classic features one-hour shows of exclusive racing coverage that aired on ESPN and ESPN2 from as far back as the mid-‘90s to last year’s exciting 2007 NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series season.
ESPN Classic is currently available in nearly 65 million households nationwide. To get ESPN Classic, call your local cable operator or satellite dish provider.
Fans can e-mail classics@nhra.com to request future vintage NHRA races on ESPN Classic, from those that aired on ESPN and ESPN2 since the mid-‘90s.

Headquartered in Glendora, Calif., NHRA is the primary sanctioning body for the sport of drag racing in the United States. It presents 23 national events through its NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series. NHRA has 80,000 members nationwide and 140 member tracks. The NHRA-sanctioned sportsman and bracket racing series provide competition opportunities for drivers of all levels. The NHRA develops the stars of tomorrow by offering the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, NHRA Summit Racing Series and the NHRA Street Legal Drags presented by AAA. NHRA also offers the O’Reilly Auto Parts Jr. Drag Racing League for youth ages 8 to 17.
On May 30, 2007, the NHRA entered into an agreement with HD Partners Acquisition Corporation (AMEX: HDP) for the acquisition by HDP of the NHRA’s professional drag racing assets, including the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, together with a broad set of commercialization rights. The transaction is subject to HDP shareholder approval. Interested persons are advised to read HDP’s preliminary proxy statement on file at the SEC and the definitive proxy statement, when available.
