BRITISH F3 (ONTARIO, CAN) - Philip Major joins Fortec for 2008 British F3 season
Majorspeed.com driver Philip Major has announced that he has signed with Fortec Motorsport Ltd, for the 2008 British F3 Championship. Major has been in the UK since the fall testing with his new team. The signing will mark a milestone in the career of the Ottawa driver, as it is the first season that he will compete outside of North America.
"Everything has gone very well so far," the Ottawa teenager said of his pre-season testing. "Fortec is a very good team with very good people, and we have been working hard to get ready for the upcoming season." Major also talked about next year. "I am really looking forward to competing in Formula 3," Major said. "I think this is a very good step for my career and I am looking forward to 2008 already."
Major's manager, Rick Gorne of Goman is pleased with Major's progress. "Philip has had an amazing pre-Christmas winter test program, and he has taken full advantage of the track time available," Gorne said. "I am looking forward to a successful 2008 season in British F3 for Philip."
Major's new team, Fortec Motorsport Ltd, is based in Daventry, UK. Fortec has competed in a number of high-profile championships including Formula 3, Formula 3000, Formula Renault, Formula BMW and more recently World Series by Renault.
Team Owner/Director Richard Dutton is very excited about having the young Canadian driver join his team for 2008. "Philip has shown very well in his testing so far," Dutton noted. "The biggest challenge for him is learning all the new circuits that he will compete on next year. We at Fortec are delighted that he has joined us for the 2008 British F3 Championship."
In 2008, Major continues to work with driver coach Christian Boudon. "I am glad Philip could sign with a top team in the F3 UK Championship after showing his speed during our intense winter testing," Boudon said. "Philip progresses recorded since January 2007 are tremendous; staying on the same path with this professional approach will fit his goals."

In 2007, Major scored his first podium finish in the Formula BMW USA series with a third in Montreal. He also scored his first pole of the year at Road America. 2006 was Philip's first season in single seater racing.
