NHRA (FONTANA) - Jegs Pacific SportsNationals-final results...

It ended a day later than scheduled, but the NHRA Jegs Pacific SportsNational presented by K&N at Auto Club Dragway at California Speedway is in the books. High winds hampered the event on Sunday, preventing NHRA and track officials to continue the race today. Comp Eliminator racer Dean Carter, Glendale, Ariz. scored his second national event win of the season while Aaron Kinard, San Marcos, Calif., earned his first national event win in Super Comp.

Carter, a former national champion, has four wins in his last five events including both divisional- and national-level races. This time he knocked off Chico, Calif., resident J.D. Zinke. Kinard, was nearly perfect in the final round, driving his dragster to an 8.907-second run on a 8.900-second index. He beat Michael Mangili of Stockton, Calif., in the final. Valinda resident Val Torres earned his first national event win of the season when he wheeled his '63 Corvette to the win over Greg Harrison of Livermore, Calif., in his '63 Corvette. Top Sportsman competitor Rick Takahashi, San Gabriel, Calif., grabbed his second win of the year, wheeling his '00 Firebird to the win over Gig Harbor, Wash., racer Robert Matthews who was piloting his '67 Nova. Colt Dwyer of Palmdale made his way to the winner's circle in Top Dragster, beating out Norco's Pat Jones.

In racing action on Sunday, Justin Lamb got the win in Super Stock, Tibor Kadar won in Stock Eliminator and Dwight Downing, Glendale, Ariz., was the Super Street winner.
