LADWIG AND PERSONETT INDIANAPOLIS – Xplod Sport Compact Racing Series drivers Marty Ladwig in Pro FWD and Brad Personett in Pro RWD weathered hot track conditions to place themselves at the top of the qualifying ladder at the NHRA Sport Compact Nationals at the O’Reilly NHRA Fall Nationals Nationals.

Ladwig, driving his Lucas Oil Chevy Cobalt, is enjoying his runs at Xplod Series events held in conjunction with POWERade Series events. This run at the Texas Motorplex was one for the textbooks. He ran a speed of 7.21 seconds at 201.22 mph. If Ladwig runs a time under the current record of 7.19 seconds he can back it up with today’s time and gain an extra 20 points. This would be his second top qualifier of 2007 and his 21st career.

“It’s great to have a good pass today after our last outing at Indy,” said Ladwig. “This is our home track, so it’s nice to have a good outing. We definitely want to set the record and get the extra points, because the points chase in our category is so close.”

Personett, in his Titan Motorsports Scion tC, is trying to repeat his performance from the NHRA Sport Compact Nationals at the Mac Tools U.S. Nationals. He ran his car to a time of 6.70 seconds at 211.86 mph.

“This was my first time on 10.5’s,” said Personett. “It was pretty smooth out there. We’ve got a good RJ racecar in this Scion. We’re moving stuff around and still tweaking things on it.”

The two final qualifying runs will take place on Saturday at Texas Motorplex.
