NASCAR BCS (DOVER) - NASCAR Foundation Track Walk Returns To Dover

The NASCAR Foundation Track Walk is once again returning to Dover International Speedway on Saturday, following the NASCAR Busch Series’ Dover 200. NASCAR fans will get the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to walk “The Monster Mile” while raising money for worthy causes.

The 2007 Track Walk will mark the fourth annual event hosted by the Dover, Del. facility and will kickoff the start of The NASCAR Foundation’s charity walk season. Fans will be able to experience the grooves of the famous Monster Mile with the added benefit of walking with well-known members of the NASCAR community.

“With over 1,200 people participating in the 2006 event, we hope that the 2007 walk can provide even more support for all the charities that are participating,” said Mike Helton, president of NASCAR and co-chairman of The NASCAR Foundation.

This year’s event brings several drivers and charity representatives together to walk in the name of their own non-profit organizations including NASCAR NEXTEL Cup drivers Greg Biffle, Ward Burton, Dale Jarrett, Kasey Kahne, Juan Pablo Montoya, Kenny Wallace and J.J. Yeley. The Victory Junction Gang Camp and the Women’s Auxiliary of Motorsports (WAM) will also be joining the festivities.

“We had such a blast walking last year,” said Ann Schrader, member of the Board of Directors for WAM and wife of NASCAR NEXTEL Cup driver Ken Schrader. “All of the fans were so kind and supportive of our causes, which makes you feel good to be a part of this type of event that can bring together so many people in the name of charity. This year I am encouraging everyone in my walk group to wear pink!”

As an added incentive to the Track Walk in Dover, walkers are able to raise additional funds for the charities through the online fundraising campaign. Registered walkers that raise over $100 are eligible for some unique prizes. This is a great way to involve family and friends that may not be able to participate in the walk.

The Dover event is the first of many charity walks this race season in which fans can participate and get a driver’s perspective of the tracks. Additional track walks will be held later in the year at New Hampshire International Speedway (June 30), Bristol Motor Speedway (Aug. 25), Lowe’s Motor Speedway (Oct. 13), Atlanta Motor Speedway (Oct. 27) and Texas Motor Speedway (Nov. 3). The Track Walks are popular events for fans and members of the community and provide entertainment while helping out The NASCAR Foundation and its Family of Charities.

“We are thrilled to again play host to the NASCAR Foundation’s Track Walk here at The Monster Mile,” said Mark Rossi, vice president of sales and marketing of Dover Motorsports, Inc. “It’s not every day that fans get the opportunity to touch and feel the concrete oval here in Dover. Your participation in this event is a chance to experience the one-mile oval in person, while helping to improve the lives of those in need.”

Fans can register online to participate in the Track Walk by visiting www.nascar.com/foundation. Participants can register to walk with one of the special guest’s groups or in the general walking group. Fans are also able to create their own webpage and encourage family and friends to support them in their fundraising efforts.

Proceeds from this Track Walk will benefit The NASCAR Foundation and its Family of Charities that participate in the event.
