Hillary Will qualifies No. 4 in debut
Runs 4.515 seconds
POMONA, Calif. (February 11, 2006) - Qualifying for Hillary Will was a
success, with Will qualifying the KB Racing LLC-owned, Kalitta
Motorsports-managed dragster in the No. 4 position on the final
qualifying ladder for the season-opening NHRA CARQUEST Auto Parts
Winternationals.
In her much anticipated debut race, the 25-year-old Will's best of four
qualifying passes was 4.515 seconds, which she ran twice.
Unfortunately, her last qualifying pass ended in the sand at the top end
of the Auto Club Raceway of Pomona quarter-mile track..
Following what otherwise was almost a picture perfect debut, Will said
of the incident, "I flat didn't get the chutes out in time. It was that
simple."
According to crew chief Jim Oberhofer, the KB Racing/Kalitta Motorsports
dragster is just dirty. Structurally, there is no damage and the car
will be ready for tomorrow.
In tomorrow's first round of eliminations, Will, who was runner-up at
last year's Winternationals in Top Alcohol Dragster, squares off against
Morgan Lucas. Lucas qualified No. 13 with a pass of 4.579 seconds at
323.66 mph.
Will begins her quest for the CarQuest Winternationals Top Fuel title on
Sunday with eliminations for all classes beginning at 11 a.m. All times
are local Pomona time (PST) and subject to change at anytime.
Qualifying highlights for the 46th annual NHRA CARQUEST Auto Parts

until 12 midnight. ESPN2 will also air same-day television coverage of
