American Racing Wheels expands its associate sponsorship
program with DSR
DON SCHUMACHER RACING
2006 NHRA POWERade DRAG RACING SERIES
INDIANAPOLIS (Jan. 21, 2006) - Don Schumacher today announced that American
Racing Wheels has expanded its associate sponsorship of Don Schumacher
Racing's NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series professional teams to include an
all-new integrated program for all seven pro cars for 2006.
As part of the deal, American Racing Wheels will remain the official racing
wheel of Don Schumacher Racing for the fourth season.
In addition to using American Racing Wheels on the two Top Fuel Dragsters,
three Funny Cars and two Pro Stock cars, DSR will provide an extensive
show-car and driver appearance program and will host American Racing guests
in its hospitality area throughout the 2006 season.
American Racing Wheels is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year and the
company has planned additional activities throughout the 2006 NHRA season
and, in particular, at the U.S. Nationals.
"Every U.S. Army, Matco Tools, Mopar/Oakley and Brut victory since 2003 has
come on American Racing Wheels," said Schumacher. "We¹ve won three
championships and set eight records on American Racing Wheels. And Melanie
Troxel, who joined the team mid-season in 2005 in the Skull Gear/Torco Race
Fuels Top Fuel Dragster, became the quickest and fastest female driver in
NHRA history. We are extremely honored and proud that American Racing is
continuing to support the DSR pro teams in 2006 with its expanded
promotional program.
"Best of all," continued Schumacher, "the U.S. Army, Mopar/Oakley and Matco
Tools teams just finished their second full season on the same sets of
American Racing Wheels and they¹re as good as new. This clearly demonstrates
the quality of the products they produce. Their technology is second to none
as they continue to improve the product and re-design it to make it better
for us."
³Working with the Don Schumacher Racing teams, we have been able to achieve
pass-after-pass, world-championship-level wheel and tire performance,² said
Scott Hughes, American Racing Motorsports Manager. ³We¹ve used this valuable
wheel performance data to create engineering models for continuous
improvements to our racing products. Our intense on-track technical work
with Don Schumacher Racing has paid off, as American Racing Wheels are the
fastest wheels in the world.²
Specializing in high strength-to-weight magnesium drag racing wheels,
American Racing Wheels was co-founded by drag-racing innovator Romeo
Palimides in 1956. Throughout the years, many of drag racing¹s leading teams
used American Racing Wheels. Announcing an industry-changing product
innovation in 2003, American Racing concluded development of and introduced
automotive wheels permanently coated with DuPont® Teflon®. In January,
American announced the release of a performance group of aftermarket sport
wheels licensed by performance legend Carroll Shelby. With 46 distribution
centers in North America, American is the largest aftermarket wheel company
in the world. American Racing Pro Series drag-racing wheels complement AR¹s
legendary presence in off-road racing.
