NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series-Sunday from Beech Bend Raceway Park

 

ELIMINATIONS PUT ON HOLD AT BEECH BEND RACEWAY PARK'S NHRA LUCAS OIL DRAG
RACING SERIES EVENT

            BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - Recurring rain forced NHRA North Central
Division and Beech Bend Raceway Park officials to postpone eliminations at
the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event.  Each of the nine classes got
at least one round of eliminations in before the race was called, according
to Jay Hullinger, North Central Division Director.  Eliminations will resume
Monday at 8 a.m.

            In both Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car, all the
top four qualifiers won in the first round of eliminations.  No. 1 Top
Alcohol Dragster qualifier Jeff Bohr of Plymouth, Mich., ran 5.606 seconds
at 254.28 mph for the win.  In Top Alcohol Funny Car, the top qualifier,
Mick Snyder of Demotte, Ind., made a 5.875-second, 245.94 mph pass to
advance to the semis. 

            North Central Division racers head to Columbus, Ohio, for the
region's final NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event.  National Trail
Raceway will host the event September 23-25.
