MILLINGTON, Tenn. (Aug. 21, 2005) ­ Q Racing Nitro Funny Car driver Tony
Pedregon was eliminated in the first round of today¹s O¹Reilly Mid-South
NHRA Nationals at Memphis Motorsports Park.

Pedregon jumped out on opponent Eric Medlen at the start (.079 - .135), but
tire smoke slowed the Q Racing driver to a 6.146-second pass. Medlen crossed
the line with a 5.109-second elapsed time at 284.21 mph.

³We lost traction and overpowered the track a little,² Pedregon said. ³It
was tough out here all weekend because of the heat, and very few cars won
out of that right lane today.

³We¹re going to spend a lot of time testing for Indy starting on Tuesday,²
Pedregon continued. ³We¹ll try a few things and prepare² for the biggest
race of the year.²
