DAY ONE COMPLETE FOR THE LUCAS OIL CANADA NATIONALS IN MISSION

	MISSION, B.C. - In the first rounds of qualifying at Mission
Raceway Park and the Lucas Oil Canada Nationals, Top Alcohol Dragster
driver Joey Severance and Top Alcohol Funny Car pilot Bucky Austin took
the No. 1 qualifying positions in their classes. 
Severance, of Spanaway, Wash., outran the field with a pass of 5.533
seconds at 256.55 mph. Severance is followed by Brandon Johnson, who
picked up the win yesterday for the delayed Lordco, B.C. Nationals, in
second with a 5.554 second pass at 254.52 mph. Defending division
champion Steve Federlin is fourth while first year Top Alcohol Dragster
driver Hillary Will broke on the burn out and did not make a pass.
	Austin, out of Fife, Wash., ran 5.805 seconds at 252.17 mph to
lead the funny cars with local racer Tim Nemeth of Chilliwack, B.C., in
second. Nemeth ran 5.823 seconds at 249.23 with Brian Hough right behind
him in third with a lap of 5.855 at 250.55 mph.	
California racer Michael Stone is on top in Comp Eliminator with a 7.300
second pass, 0.640 seconds under the index in his '04 dragster. Stone
picked up the win at yesterday's Lordco event and is followed by
division point's leader Dave Barcelon at 8.187 seconds, 0.573 seconds
under.
Shawn Cowie, who also took home the trophy yesterday, grabbed the early
pole in Top Comp with a lap of 6.485 seconds at 209.44 mph. The
Richmond, B.C., resident is followed by Art Hodges and Greg Carlile in
second and third respectively. Hodges ran 6.700 seconds at 209.88 mph
while Carlile ran 6.836, 195.18.
	In Super Stock it was Kevin Cour landing on top with a 9.665
second run, 1.135 seconds under the index. Tommy Gaynoe leads the Stock
class in his '85 Chevy running 11.452 seconds, 1.298 seconds under the
index.
The NHRA Northwest Division finalized its Jeg's Allstar team yesterday
with the conclusion of the Lordco B.C. Nationals here at Mission Raceway
Park: Steve Federlin, Top Alcohol Dragster; Bucky Austin, Top Alcohol
Funny Car; Jeff Lane, Comp Eliminator; Sean Cour, Super Stock; Joe
Sorensen Stock; Brandon Yoder, Super Comp; Stefan Kondolay, Super Gas;
and Duddley Gee, Super Street.
Racing continues Saturday at 9 A.M.  Gates open at 8 A.M.  Top Alcohol
Dragsters and Funny Cars will make qualifying passes at noon and 4 p.m.
