Cruz Pedregon Wrap Up From Infineon
18th Annual FRAM-Autolite NHRA Nationals
Infineon Raceway– Sonoma, Calif.
Advance Auto Parts Nitro Funny Car - Pedregon Racing
NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series
SONOMA, Calif. (July 31, 2005) -- Advance Auto Parts driver Cruz Pedregon
fell in the first round of eliminations during today's FRAM-Autolite NHRA
Nationals at Infineon Raceway.
The California native ended the West Coast swing coming face to face with
brother Tony (Pedregon).
Even though the Advance Auto Parts driver reacted first to the light, the
car smoked the tires early in the pass slowing Pedregon to a 5.933-second
elapsed time at 160.25 mph, not enough to outrun
Tonyıs pass of 4.874 seconds at 316.38mph.
³We reacted a little too aggressively for todayıs track conditions,²
Pedregon explained. ³But I feel the Advance Auto Parts team gave Tony
(Pedregon), the fans and sponsors a good race. We had a shot at winning and
we took it.
³We had a challenging weekend during qualifying, but my team definitely rose
to the occasion and put us in the show,² Pedregon added. ³I am pleased
because Wes Cerny (crew chief) and the rest of the team have some good ideas
about what we need to do. We plan on turn things around for the next racing
stretch; if
necessary, we may even do some more testing before our next race in
Brainerd, Minn.²
