Topless Late Models at SSP on Thursday Night
NEWBERRYTOWN, PA (July 18, 2005) – This Thursday night, July 21, SSP will
return to racing action with a great night of fun and entertainment featuring
the topless Late Models from Silver Springs Speedway presented by the
Make-A-Wish Foundation, The Great American School Bus Races, Xtreme Stocks, and a
Mini Van Construction Race presented by York Haven Auto Sales. There will also
be a Kid’s Money Scramble sponsored by Members First Federal Credit Union.
It will also be ARCH (Auto Racing Club of Hagerstown) Night as well with
feature winners receiving special awards. If needed, a rain date will be
announced for this event.
The topless Late Models will compete exclusively under the rules of the
Silver Springs Late Models (_www.silverspringspeedway.com_
(http://www.silverspringspeedway.com/) ) with the Hoosier spec HTMA tire used on all four corners.
Gates open in the pit area and grandstands at 5:00 p.m. Warm-ups begin at
7:00 p.m. with racing beginning promptly at 7:30 p.m. SSP will continue
its Repeat Fan Discount in which there will be a $2.00 discount for each
person with a ticket stub from the June 30 or July 3 events only. For example,
$2.00 off an Adult ticket for July 21 with and Adult ticket stub from the
June 30 or July 3 event. Returning fans are encouraged to write their name,
address and phone number on the back of the stub to be entered into special
drawings during the season for great prizes. Pit pass prices are $20.00 with a
reduced price of $18.00 for all track license holders.
The Susquehanna Speedway Park is located off I-83 to exit 32, then 1.4 miles
NW on SR382 to York Road, then 1.3 miles south. The speedway website is

SSP News and Notes:
- The Super Sportsman at SSP culminates with the Inaugural 75-lap Trail
Motors Championship on Sunday, September 4, paying $2,500 to the winner. For the
championship race, there will be 12 automatic qualifiers for the event
determined by the winners of the following events: 1) Silver Spring (Sat., May 28 –
Craig Morrow); 2) SSP (Sun., May 29 – Russ Mitten); 3) SSP (Sun., June 5 –
Dave Calaman); 4) Port Royal (Wed., June 15 - Pat Cannon); 5) SSP (Sun.,
June 19 – Rich Eichelberger); 6) Williams Grove (Fri., June 24 – Danny
Hager); 7) Silver Spring (Sat., July 2 – Billy Schoffstall); 8) SSP (Sun., July 3 –
Frankie Herr); 9) Lincoln (Wed., July 20); 10) SSP (Sun., July 24); 11) SSP
(Sun., Aug. 7); 12) SSP (Sun., Aug. 21). The remainder of the field for the
championship will qualify through heats and a last chance race. All Trail
Motors Super Sportsman Series events at SSP will require the use of Hoosier
Tires on all four corners with a Hoosier 105/18-15 plated (HTMA or HTE) right
rear spec tire.
- Sunday Night Racing at SSP - The next Sunday night event will be July 24
with Christmas in July and York County Racing Club Night featuring the Trail
Motors Super Sportsman Series along with the Silver Spring Street Stock and
the W.O.W. Stocks (Women on Wheels) and a One-on-One Street Car Drags.
Entries for the Street Car Drags are limited to sixteen and forms are available at
sspracing.net or by calling (717) 292-1696. Santa will also host a Kid’s Toy
Scramble on Sunday night. The Street Stock race will be presented by Morgan’
s Place Restaurant in Harrisburg and paying $500 to the winner with 450
added to second and third place.
- Mini Van and Road Warrior Additions to the 2005 Schedule – More Mini Van
and Road Warrior races have been added to the remainder of the 2005 racing
schedule. There will be seven more Mini Van races and three Road Warriors
races. The two classes will compete in various novelty style races (construction
race, flag pole race, etc.) with trophies being awarded to the top three of
the races. Rules for both of these affordable racing divisions can be found

- SSP Point Champion Awards - The post season awards for the 2005 SSP
Sprint Car Points Championship will be three (3) 2006 Gold Season Pit Passes for
the championship team (Value = $1,500). Drivers finishing second through fifth
will receive two (2) 2006 Gold Season Pit Passes (Value = $1,000 per team).
Drivers finishing sixth through tenth will receive one (1) 2006 Gold Season
Pit Pass (Value = $500 per team).
The post season awards for the 2005 Xtreme Stock Car, Trail Motors Super
Sportsman, Street Stocks and Legends Cars Points Championship will be two (2)
2005 Gold Season Pit Passes for the championship team (Value = $1,000).
Drivers finishing second through fifth will receive one (1) 2005 Gold Season Pit
Passes (Value = $500 per team). Championship jackets from Hoosier Tires will
be given the Champions of the Sprint Cars, Street Stocks, Late Models and
Trail Motors Super Sportsman divisions.
- Xtreme Stock Car Heats Eliminated for Remainder of 2005 season – The
heat races for the Xtreme Stock Cars have been elimated in order to create the “
new�?? Rookie Rumble feature race for all beginners in this entry level
division. The 15-lap race will give the drivers the much needed racing experience
as they begin their careers in the sport. All drivers participating in the
Rookie Rumble will compete for trophies for the first, second and third place
finishers. The participants will enter the Rookie Rumble upon their own
decision and after three wins, they will not be eligible to compete in the Rookie
Rumble.
The lineups for the Xtreme Stock Car feature event will be derived from the
three (3) race handicapping system also used for the Sprint Cars, Trail
Motors Super Sportsman and Street Stocks. The top five finishers from the
previous race will still compete in the Pepsi Dash and start at the rear of the
feature lineup. The top five finishers will also continue to be eligible for
double purse money if they finish in the top five spots. The length of the
feature event will depend on the number of starters. Twenty-nine (29) or less
cars in the feature will compete for 25 laps. If the field is thirty (30) or
more starters, the feature event will be 30 laps. Drivers competing in the
Rookie Rumble will not be eligible to compete in regular Xtreme Stock Car
feature event on the same night of racing.
