Tony Pedregon Returns to Maple Grove Raceway
Quaker State Racing Looks To Take Advantage of Weather Conditions

MOHNTON, Pa. (Oct. 6, 2004) Tony Pedregon, driver of the Quaker State
Racing Monte Carlo Nitro Funny Car, is coming back for round two at Maple
Grove Raceway after rain postponed the regularly scheduled event back on
Sept. 16-19.

With the fall season quickly ushering in cooler weather, the dynamics of
this race may have also changed since the first one. Traditionally,
Pennsylvania¹s hot summer weather gives way too much cooler conditions this
time of year. Which means those teams with a lot of horsepower, may hold an
advantage.

³We should have some great weather conditions in Reading this weekend,²
Pedregon said. ³It favors us a little because we definitely have one of the
quicker and faster race cars out there.²

But the competition has also picked up at the same time, especially since
the quickest field in NHRA Funny Car history was recorded during the most
recent event at Route 66 Raceway in Joliet, Ill., where similar cooler
conditions prevailed.

³I think over the last couple of races, a lot of teams have figured out how
to run quicker,² Pedregon commented. ³I think given the right conditions in
Reading, we¹ll see a lot more of the same.²

RAISING THE STAKES: Tony Pedregon¹s eighth-place qualifying effort at the
most recent NHRA national event at Route 66 Raceway marked the
sixth-straight race Pedregon has recorded a top eight. He will try to extend
that streak at Maple Grove Raceway this weekend.
