Ringers Gloves Weekend Motorsports Channel Wrap-Up

RINGERS GLOVES WEEKEND WRAP-UP
Newman in Chase; Frank Wins 100

Indianapolis – (September 14, 2004) While the National Hot Rod Association
had the weekend off, Ringers Gloves was still on the road, traveling to the
famed Eldora Speedway in New Weston, Ohio for the 34th annual World 100 dirt
late model event.
Ringers supporter Chub Frank of Bear Lake, Pa., has had a rough year.
In late March, a fire swept through ChubZilla’s (as Frank is affectionately
known) shop in Pennsylvania, resulting in a total loss for the shop, the
contents in it and heat and smoke damage to the truck and trailer.
Only weeks later in late April, Frank lost his mother to a brain tumor
discovered in October 2003.
But on Saturday, Frank’s year looked up as he captured the title for the
34th annual World 100.
Frank, a member of the World of Outlaws Late Model Series “Dirty Dozen,”
took the lead from Don O’Neal on a restart on lap 63 and held on until the
checkered flag to claim his $37,000 check.
Frank was greeted by Bernice and Earl Baltes in victory lane.
Prior to the race, Earl Baltes announced that the 2004 season would be his
and Bernice’s final season promoting Eldora Speedway.
The Baltes’ have managed and promoted the track for 51 years and put Eldora
Speedway on the map of dirt track racing. Everyone at Ringers Gloves wishes
the Baltes’ nothing but the best in their retirement.
Over to Richmond, Va., Ryan Newman, driver of the Penske Racing South
ALLTEL #12 Dodge, secured himself into the top 10 for the “Chase to the Nextel Cup.
”
Newman finished a disappointing 15th in the Chevy Rock and Roll 400, but it
was a good enough finish for him to be in contention for the 2004
championship.
Newman and teammates Brendan Gaughan and Rusty Wallace head to the New
Hampshire International Speedway in Loudon, N.H., this weekend for the Sylvania
300.
The Ringers Road Show heads to Atlanta for the NOPI Nationals at the
Atlanta Motor Speedway.
