Racing Ramblings July 12, 2004 - NASCAR-ARCA-F1
Hey there!
Things sure are exciting over on the NASCAR side of the world . . . you have to wonder when they'll start a real penalty box . . . Between Jason Leffler literally knocking out two cars last week in the Daytona Busch race and Tony Stewart acting like a schoolyard bully more than a few times this year, NASCAR officials need to start making drivers sit out races for their actions.
I'll be back on the road later this month . . . July 29th - August 3rd. The 29th - 30th I'll be available in the Philadelphia and Northeast PA areas, and the 2nd - 3rd I'll be in the NYC area. If you'd like to schedule an appointment for me to come in and discuss your headwear or other ad specialty needs, please drop me a line or give me a call!
Here's this weekend's results:
NASCAR @ Chicagoland Speedway - What can you say? Tony Stewart, driving the Home Depot Chevrolet, dominated the Nextel Cup Tropicana 400 and probably would have won the race anyway, but he marred a terrific run by punting Kasey Kahne, starting a major pileup. Jimmie Johnson and Dale Jarrett rounded out the top three. In Saturday's Busch Series Tropicana Twister 300, a Labonte ended up in Victory Circle, but it wasn't Terry, or even Bobby . . . it was Terry's son Justin, driving the U.S. Coast Guard Dodge to his first Busch Series victory.
NASCAR @ Kentucky Speedway - The Craftsman Truck Series was in Sparta, KY for the Built Ford Tough 225 where Bobby Hamilton, driving the Square D Dodge, took his third win of the year.
ARCA @ Kentucky Speedway - The Re/Max Series was also in Kentucky for the Kentucky 150 on 700 WLW Pole Night, and Ryan Hemphill, driving the TrimSpa Dodge, was in the right place when the race was called on account of rain.
CCWS @ Toronto - Sebastien Bourdais did it again, this time at the Molson Indy Toronto. Bourdais, driving the McDonald's Ford Lola, won his third straight Bridgestone Presents The Champ Car World Series Powered by Ford event of the year. Also in Toronto, the Toyota Atlantic Championship presented by Yokohama series event was won by Jon Fogarty, driving for Pacific Coast Motorsports.
F1 @ Silverstone - OK, so this week there was another F1 race, this time it was the British Grand Prix. Yes, Michael Schumacher won again, his tenth win in eleven starts this year, and yes, Rubens Barrichello ended up on the podium, this time finishing third.
