Harold Martin Sits Second after First day of the ACDelco Nationals
Event: Fourth annual ACDelco Nationals
Location: Virginia Motorsports Park
Dinwiddie, VA
Day/Date: Friday, May 28, 2004
The fourth annual ACDelco Nationals got underway on Friday with a single qualifying session at Virginia Motorsports Park in Richmond, VA. Harold Martin took full advantage of the opportunity, rocketing down the quarter-mile in 6.274-seconds with a top speed of 225.56 mph. This placed the ACDelco Pro Mod Grand Am in the second position heading into Saturday's time trials. According to Martin, today's performance showed things were going according to plan.
"Our goal today was to go out and simply race the race track. We had tested just two days ago and felt like we had a good program going, so we thought we needed to open with a good conservative pass. We didn't need to do anything heroic, we just wanted to get near the front of the pack, If that put us in the pole position, that would be great, but we were just looking to make a good, clean run, and we did. I think today's results show that all the hard work put in by this ACDelco racing team is starting to pay dividends."
