NOTES OF INTEREST: This year's Hickory Farms 200 presented by Federated Car Care marks the 55th appearance of the ARCA RE/MAX Series at Toledo Speedway since 1963. NASCAR Nextel Cup Series veteran Ken Schrader has filed an entry for this year's ARCA/Toledo classic. Schrader, who will be racing the night before in the Cup race at Richmond, has 10 career ARCA RE/MAX Series victories including Toledo Speedway in 1997. In 3 previous Toledo starts, third-generation driver Jason Jarrett, entered this year in the Gladiator GarageWorks-Bennigan's Chevrolet, has finished 2nd twice and 3rd while 4-time ARCA RE/MAX Series champion Frank Kimmel has won 5 of the last 6 events there including the last 4 consecutive. Kimmel is also the all-time RE/MAX Series winner at Toledo with 7 victories overall. Other winners at Toledo through the years include Bobby Bowsher, Benny Parsons, Blaise Alexander, Iggy Katona, Bill Venturini, Ramo Stott, Andy Hampton and Bob Strait to name a few. Of the drivers entered, only Schrader and Kimmel are former RE/MAX Series race winners at Toledo; and Kimmel is the only former series champion entered. Presently, Billy Venturini has closed to within 45 championship points of current point leader Kimmel. Interestingly, 70 of Kimmel's points were earned through qualifying this year whereas Venturini has earned no points through qualifying. Venturini is coming off a solid second place finish at Kentucky. This year's Toledo classic has an interesting mix of veterans and rookies including from the rookie ranks Boston Reid who cut his teeth in the open wheel divisions. Reid, who tested at Toledo, will make his series debut at Toledo although he raced there last year in the USAC sprint car division. Also entered from the rookie ranks is AJ Fike who currently leads the ARCA Rookie of the Year points over Sparks, Nevada driver TJ Bell. Ryan Hemphill, last week's winner at Kentucky, has also entered for his first short-track event of the year. Unadilla, Georgia driver Walt Brannen will make his career-first series attempt at Toledo as will 16-year-old Josh Allison from Martinsville, Indiana. Series veterans Mark Gibson and Christi Passmore are coming to Toledo with momentum having finished 3rd and 5th consecutively at Kentucky. Former Toledo Sportsman division winner Terry Jones from Amherstburg, Ontario is also entered.
