HOWARD, STIDHAM PICK UP LATE SEASON WINS
        
        BELLE ROSE, La. - In the final results from No Problem Raceway, Top Alcohol Dragster driver Shelly Howard posted a 5.505 second pass at 254.57 mph taking the win over Gene Snow at the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series O'Reilly Cajun Challenge. Snow crossed the finish line in 5.594 seconds at 232.23 mph.
        "This is a good win for us," said Howard. "Lee (Callaway) is probably still ahead of us in division points but this will help with the national points."
        Jackie Stidham picked up his second win in as many years in the Top Alcohol Funny Car class here at No Problem Raceway. In a repeat of last year's final round, Stidham knocked off South Central Division Champion Tate Branch with a pass of 5.834 seconds at 240.08 mph. Branch was right behind the Chickaska, Okla., resident with a 5.869, 245.14.
        Kevin Helms continued to move closer to defending his National Championship in Stock with a win over Jeff Hefler. 
        Mike Trumble took out Rodger Brogdon in Comp. Eliminator with a run of 8.150 at 165.64 mph while Larry Stewart Jr. drove his '66 Nova to a win over Hammond, La., resident Larry Cummings in Super Stock. Vasil John of New Orleans ran a 9.901 at 154.72 mph to beat Clark Mundt at 9.918, 153.65.
        Seventeen-year-old Corey Glidewell picked up the win in the Sunset Racecraft Top Sportsman Series and J.J. Hughes won the Kerker Motorcycle Series over Curtis Nichols of Donalsonville.
        Additional winners were Tommy Phillips in Super Comp and GS Abbott of Strawn, Texas in Super Gas.
        The South Central Division Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series makes its next stop at Thunder Valley Raceway Park in Noble, Okla., October 3-5.
