Quest for Wally’s continues as Jr. racers complete first round of eliminations
READING, Pa. - After several days of preparation by racers and their families from NHRA’s Northeast, Southeast, North Central and South Central divisions, the NHRA O’Reilly Auto Parts Jr. Drag Racing League Eastern Conference Finals completed the first round of eliminations today.
Among the first round winners were defending NHRA O’Reilly Auto Parts Jr. Drag Racing League Eastern Conference Finals champions, Mark Roe of Clarksville, Ohio and Nick Hastings of Shelby, Ohio. Whiteland, Ind., racer Joey Shipp, Dylan Myers of Mechanicsburg, Pa., and Allen Rouse, Jr., of Jacksonville, Fla., also advanced.
Included in the list of those defeated in the opening round of competition was 2002 NHRA O’Reilly Auto Parts Jr. Drag Racing League Eastern Conference Finals Champion Andrew Head of Streetsboro, Ohio. Two-time Eastern Conference Finals finalist Alexa Rick of Elyria, Ohio was also defeated in the opening round.  
In addition to running eliminations, many of the participants and their families took time in-between rounds to cool off in Maple Grove’s Million Gallon swimming pool. Once racing was complete, racers and their families then made their way over to the Maple Grove Raceway barbecue, presented by Parkway, Half-Scale Dragsters and Quick Kids Race Cars, to fill up on chicken and some cool drinks.
