USCS Winged Outlaw Sprint Cars Debut at Hardeeville

HARDEEVILLE, S.C. (July 20, 2002) - A night filled with lighting and
thunder both on and off the track found Bartlett, TN native Terry Gray in
victory lane after the USCS Winged Outlaw Sprint Car feature. Nicholas
Hutchins from Columbia, SC continued to be the only person to ever win a
Thunder Roadster feature at HMS with his fourth career victory. Andrew
Smith of Savannah, GA picked up his sixth career feature victory in the
Legends Cars feature. Timmy Dasher of Bluffton, SC picked up two
victories in the Xtreme Stock Car feature as he won the make-up race from
last week as well as the regularly scheduled event. Tim Padgett and Cherri
Burke, both from Hardeeville, SC split victories in the Road Warrior division.

Making their debut appearance at the Hardeeville Motor Speedway, the USCS
Outlaw Sprint Cars Asphalt Thunder Tour roared into town Saturday night to
a fan filled grandstand shattering the one-lap track record held since
2001. Chris Rodgers of Winston, GA broke the existing track record as he
turned one lap in 12.530 seconds with an average speed of 99.8 miles per
hour. Speeds on the backstretch from the majority of Sprint Car drivers
was approximately 130 m.p.h.! In the feature race for the Sprint Cars,
Terry Gray came on strong at the end to beat early leader Kenny Adams of
Malabar, GA. Finishing third was Wayne Reutimann of Zephyr Hills, Fla.
From the outset, Adams' car seemed to have itself on pace with the best
setup but Gray truly dominated the field as the laps wore on, eventually
washing his hands of Adams with strong moves inside and working the outside
grooves. After a red flag condition brought out when Red Stauffer from
Winter Park, FL slammed into the turn three wall, USCS officials stopped
the race 2 laps shy of the full 40 laps due to a slight rainfall and
concern for driver safety due to extensive tire wear on many of the cars.
Stauffer escaped without injury.

The Thunder Roadsters were also on hand as they held heat races as well as
the 20-lap feature. Nicholas Hutchins sailed away from the rest of the
field, with D.J. Krentz of Huntersville, NC and Bob Jarvis of Greenville,
SC coming in second and third respectively in the feature event.

The Xtreme Stock Cars were back to complete last week's race that was
halted at lap 5 due to rain, as well as run a pre-scheduled 20-lap feature.
Timmy Dasher found victory lane twice as Don Dean from Sheldon, SC finished
second to "The Dash" in both events as did David Taschner of Summerville,
SC.

The Legend Series saw exciting nail biting action as Andrew Smith held off
Kevin O'Brien of Burton, SC and Billy Tysinger of Hardeeville, Sc for the
victory in the feature as the points series is boiling over with
competition in the Legends Series.

The popular Road Warriors were back with two races as Cherri Burke was
victorious in the first race over Todd Harvey of Hardeeville, SC and Timmy
Padgett. After the race, Cherri said "This is so much fun! I can't wait
for the next one!" In the night-cap Road Warrior race, Padgett bested
special guest racer Buddy Ridgeway of Hardeeville, SC and Mike Figueroa
also of Hardeeville. Ridgeway was celebrating his birthday at the track
and family members gave him a ride in the Road Warriors class as a present
he soon won't forget.

Next Saturday night, July 27th racing action returns on its 2nd Anniversary
with "Pack the Track" night. Due to the anniversary, there will be a
special ticket price of $5.00 for everyone 12 years of age and older. Any
child under 12 years of age will be admitted free. Racing action will have
a total of 10 feature races from all local divisions that include the O.C.
Welch Ford Lincoln Mercury Late Models, the Legend Cars, Street Stocks,
Mini Stocks, Xtreme Stocks and the Road Warriors. The highlight for the
27th is the re-scheduled Demolition Derby with a $500 to win purse at
stake. Derby ready cars are available for purchase at the Hardeeville
Motor Speedway.

The Hardeeville Motor Speedway is located three miles south of I-95 (exit 5
in SC) on Speedway Blvd./Highway 17 or just ten miles north of Savannah on
