Woodside Hopes For Second 2002 Mesa Marin Win
June 24, 2002 (Saugus, Calif.) - NASCAR driver Sean Woodside returns to Mesa
Marin Raceway in Bakersfield, Calif., where he notched his first win for the
2002 season, this Saturday for the Firecracker 100.
Currently in second-place in the Featherlite Southwest Series, NASCAR
Touring point standings, Woodside is just 28 points out of the lead and
highly motivated to take his #45 Lucas Oil/Ron's Rear Ends Chevrolet to the
leading spot in both the race and the championship battle.
"We just passed the half-way point in the season, and we're ready to take
over the reins in the championship race," Woodside said. "This team knows
every inch of Mesa Marin, and so do I. We know what it takes to run up front
at this track, and we plan to do everything in our power to make that
happen."
Woodside won the April 2002 Southwest Series event after leading nearly half
the laps in the race. He also won the March 2000 Southwest Series event, the
Foods Co 100, during his one-year hitch with REF Motorsports.
Woodside won the October Classic Winston West events at Mesa Marin in 1997,
1998 and 1999, as well as the Bud Pole Award in both 1997 and 1998. Woodside
was one of Mesa Marin's strongest Late Model competitors prior to his
Winston West career.
Woodside's primary sponsor, Corona, Calif.-based Lucas Oil Products, is a
world leader in heavy-duty and high-performance lubricants and additives.
