Montgomery Tests Strong at Lowe's

CONCORD, North Carolina (May 3, 2002) - Last time Chase Montgomery was at Lowe's Motor Speedway, he sat on the outside of Row 1 and earned a sixth-place finish.

Not only was it Montgomery's first time competing at Lowe's, it was only his fifth ARCA RE/MAX Series start.


Wednesday, Montgomery returned to the 1.5-mile oval to test for the upcoming Easy Care Vehicle Service Contracts 100 that will be held on Saturday May 18, in conjunction with The Winston.


The 18-year-old picked up right where he left off last fall, as he turned the fourth fastest lap of the day at a 30.38, only .39 off the fastest lap time.


"We had a great run here last fall, and I know we have the car and team to finish at the top in a few weeks," Montgomery said.


The next race form Montgomery and the #27 Montgomery Motorsports Chevrolet Monte Carlo will be the WLWT Channel 5-155 at the Kentucky Speedway on May 11. The race will be televised live on Speed Channel starting at 8:00 p.m.
