Walt Johnson of Sun Valley, Calif. hopes his current USAC WorldCom TQ Midget Car "streak" ends this Saturday night at the Santa Maria (Calif.) Speedway. He has finished second in the last four feature events, including a June 2 race at Santa Maria won by Troy Barkley.

Johnson leads Steve Lambert by 46 points in the standings going into Saturday's race at the 1/3-mile dirt oval. Lambert, like Johnson, is seeking his first victory of the 2001 campaign after a pair of thirds, a fourth and a fifth in five starts. He was third in the June race at Santa Maria.

Todd Hunsaker ranks third in the standings and is the only driver to repeat as a feature winner this season, taking back-to-back victories at Bakersfield and Irwindale, Calif. in April and May.

A 20-lap feature caps Saturday night's action at Santa Maria.
