NHRA: Bass Pro Shops Teams with Etchells Racing

August 12, 2001Springfield, MO---Bass Pro Shops has joined with Chuck Etchells Racing Inc. to sponsor a Chevrolet Camaro Funny Car for two races in the National Hot Rod Association's (NHRA) Winston Drag Racing series.
As the primary sponsor, the Etchells Racing Funny Car will carry a special paint scheme along with the Bass Pro Shops logo in several strategic locations. The Bass Pro Shops logo will also be on all team uniforms, driver's fire suit, and all team vehicles, including the massive race transporter.
The Bass Pro Shops car will race September 20 - 23 at the Auto Zone Nationals in Memphis, Tennessee and September 27 - 30 at the Inaugural National Event in Chicago, Illinois. The car will also be on display atthe Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World - Chicago Fall Hunting Classic August 9-12. Race driver Jim Epler and team owner Chuck Etchells will be at the Chicago Classic August 10 & 11 signing autographs. During the event a drawing will be held for two tickets to the Chicago race.
In addition, Racing Champions/Ertl is creating a 1/64 die-cast replica of the Bass Pro Shops Funny Car. The car is currently being pre-sold over the Bass Pro Shops web site at www.basspro.com. It will be available in Bass Pro Shops stores nationwide after September 15th and featured in the Bass Pro Shops Christmas Catalog.
The Chuck Etchells Racing Team is based out of a new, state-of-the-art facility in Indianapolis, Indiana with satellite locations in Putnam, Connecticut and Mooresville, North Carolina. They are only one of two Funny Car teams to have posted Top Five points finishes in the Winston Championship points standings in eight of the last nine years.
