May 22, 2001Shane Hollingsworth of Indianapolis, Ind. now has something his father earned during his racing career - a USAC feature victory on his resume'.
Hollingsworth drove his Concrete Connection/George's Concrete Pumping/United Insurance Agencies/TW Metals Esslinger Beast to victory in Saturday night's 25-lap USAC Regional Dirt-Track Midget Car opener at Lincoln Park Speedway in Putnamville, Ind. His dad, Blake, scored his USAC win in an indoor Midget car race at Springfield, Ill. in 1986.
Seven lead changes in 25 laps found Hollingsworth leading only six total laps but the most important were the final two after he got by Chris Coers, who finished second. John Wolfe, Matt Westfall and Matt Sandy rounded out the "top-five" at the checkered flag.
The next regional dirt-track event is also slated at Putnamville, on July 28.
